For the treatment of animal by-products, we have shredders, dryers, cookers, sterilizers, hammer mills and screw conveyor systems. Rendering converts animal waste into other usable materials such as feed protein. Fatty tissue, bones, offal and even the animal carcass itself are exposed to temperatures of around 130 degrees Celsius and then pressurised using steam to destroy any pathogens. The rendering process simultaneously dries the material and separates the fat from the bone and protein, yielding a new material for alternative purposes such as a fat commodity and a high-protein meal.
